Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by parents for the town in which she was raised. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder made the move along with her family in Mendocino County California at the age of seven. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder developed into a fervent book reader because there was no TV. In 1983 when she was 12 Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take classes in acting. In 1986, she got her first big-screen role in the movie Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder was a victim of bullying in high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actor would be able to be a positive change. Unfortunately, that did not happen. However, she remained committed to her dream. In 1988, she got her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder performed in a number of roles that were successful for various films. The actor won two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
